3 weeks is a nice amount of time for a safari and the garden route. I would not try to get much more packed into that time frame though....

      Link Exchanage?

      Hi,

Anyone here who would be interested in a link exchange with my Africa Travel Blog (www.theafricatravelblog.com)?

I am only interested in linking with high quality sites related to Africa, where the link will appear in a sidebar (not a separate link farm / page).. In return I would link to your site / blog in my sidebar..

Thanks, I look forward to hear from you!

PS: So many amazing blogs here! Good job everybody!

      Hi,

The design is nice. I like the pictures on the side. However, I think you should be able to find a nicer world map for your header?

Interesting posts. Good luck with choosing a new domain name!

      Hi.

There is actually a very easy way to do that!

You might have already found out, but when you create your Wordpress account, there is an "import tool" under tools. Follow the instructions from there!

I love Wordpress, and find it way more convenient than blogspot.

Wow, that sounds like a really different travel experience. Unfortunately I don't know anything about Morocco, but I would love to hear how your trip turns out. If you want to, you can blog about your travels on the blog that I host, The Africa Travel Blog. People there have a lot of knowledge about Africa travel, so you might get some good advice from the other readers and writers.

Good luck, and keep us updated on your trip!

      Dalia,

I don't know how you plan to travel, but if you have a really tight budget there are several ways to cut costs. You can try to use local means of transportation (mini buses), eat at locally owned small restaurants, stay at hostels, etc.

This is how I have traveled in Africa, and it works well. The mini buses can be a lot of hassle, uncomfortable and time consuming, but it definitely gives you a great look into the local way of life. However, it's not the safest way to travel. There are a lot of accidents, and you will probably feel safer if you travel with someone in case you get stranded somewhere.

The biggest expenses in Africa are the luxury safaris and resorts. So this is a good thing to avoid if you are on a budget. You could consider renting a car with other travelers, and do the safari on your own.

South Africa has very good roads, but also a lot of accidents. I love going on road trips in S-A, and highly recommend it. But as all other places in the world, drive carefully and be aware of drunk drivers at night.

All the big cities in S-A have quite a lot of crime, so you should always know where you are going.

I loved Victoria Falls. You can stay in Livingstone in Zambia, if you don't want to stay in Zimbabwe. Livingstone is probably cheaper and easier to find food, etc. But you should definitely cross the border to see the falls from the Zimbabwean side!

You will find more information about Cape Town, etc. on my blog.

Thanks, and have a wonderful trip!!

      Hi Silvia,

Sounds like you are going for a great trip! You will love Cape Town, it is such a beautiful and diverse city. When you are there you should either climb or take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain! Take a day trip to the Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope), maybe Simons Town to meet the penguins, and just hang out in Downtown Cape Town. Long Street is the main street for nightlife, restaurants, shopping etc. The Waterfront is also great for shopping and restaurants. Personally I would also recommend to visit the townships. Take a taxi out there, and just stroll around for a couple of hours. But it's a good idea to find out what areas are safe and not. And don't stay after dark.

      Hi,

There are quite a few eco lodges, but they are not cheap!

The cheapest way to do the safari is probably to rent a car and do it on your own. This is of course most fun if you meet other travelers that are interested in doing the same thing. You can then go together, and save even more money by splitting the car rental.

Guided safaris are great because you are more likely to see all the animals. But you will see plenty anyways.

I recommend to check out http://www.responsibletravel.com. They have tons of information and hundreds of different safaris that are all focused on responsible and eco tourism. But they are probably not cheap.

Good luck with your trip! You will love it!

      Thanks,

      Hi,

33 days in East Africa sounds wonderful!

Of all the places I have traveled in Africa, I have never bothered with bringing local currency from home. I have always used my credit card to take out cash in the local atm's, and that has never been a problem. All big cities have ATM's, but I usually take out a descent amount of cash before I go to very remote places, as you never know how the atm's will work there. And it is always good to have some US dollars, as they are good for emergencies.

Africa is surprisingly easy and safe to travel in, so you will have a good time!!

Where in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are you going?

      California Beers

I moved to California one year ago (from Norway), and I was surprised to see the endless selection of beer that almost every bar and pub has. There are soo many amazing ales. I can't even say which one is my favorite, because I still am trying a new one each time I go out.

However, the point is: California opened my eyes for other beer than the traditional lager.. Which I would not have expected. I thought everybody drinks Bud Light over here, but I was wrong..
