I am a chronic expatriate. I have lived in Korea for two years, backpacked through almost every country in Asia, lived in France for half a year, lived in Kuwait for a year, went back to Canada for a couple of months, went back to Korea for a year, and now I’m living in Mongolia.
Along the way and in between being an expatriate, I have travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Japan, Taiwan, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. If you are to believe what my passport tells you, I have also been to Hong Kong and Bahrain, but I usually don’t advertise that, as really I was just passing through on connecting flights and didn’t see anything of those places.
After Mongolia, it’s anybody’s guess where I’ll end up, but I’m seriously considering taking a job in Myanmar this June. Where would I still like to go? Hmmm… Myanmar (obviously), Yemen, Saudi, Oman, Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, and South Africa. And I have a dream of sending my friends and family postcards postmarked “Timbuktu”. When I get tired enough of the expatriate life, and when I feel I have saved up enough money, I would love to do a bicylce trip around the entire world!
