Hey Cindi being a woman myself who have traveled alone in India I dont think It will be a problem if u r travelling alone. But yes do try to rely on ur instinct whn talking to or sampling food from strangers. My experience tells me that Most Indians are friendly n helpful but dnt hesitate to ask for help if u feel that u r being harassed by someone. N b careful whn asking fr directions most Indians tend to judge distance by time so if u ask someone how far it is they will tell u its a 5 minutes walk and u will end up walking 5 kilometers! Always keep a map handy . Enjoy ur stay.

Hi there its good to know that u r planning a trip to India in 2010. I m glad to know that u find India n Indians amazing n beautiful cos they truly r. Most people tend to visit common places like Goa,Kerala and Rajasthan. I dnt know which part of India u plan to visit but do try to go to places in northern India as well as the Himalayas. North-East is still mostly unexplored by foreigners mainly because of permit issues but try to visit the wildlife sanctuaries in this part also.
