DC area native.

Some terms that are different in American English that you should know when posting or reading:

Trekking – Backpacking

Backpacking – Budget travel (and this usually means motels rather than hostels/camping)

Hiring a car/van – We “rent” cars (and other things), and “hire” drivers (and other people).

Campervan – Recreational Vehicle (RV), class B (but use “RV” and we think class A, a bus sized vehicle).

Return – Round-trip (“return” suggests you want to return home, one-way).

Internal flight – Domestic flight
