I am not the most adventurous traveller you will ever meet: I didn’t leave the shores on of England until I was 17years old.
Most of travel has been with my wife. We’ve had month-long holidays across mainland Europe. We have many friends and even a close relative in the USA so are frequent visitors across the Atlantic. We were very lucky to work for Lonely Planet for fifteen months, based in Lonely Planet’s HQ in Melbourne and as a result have sampled not only Australia and New Zealand but also the likes of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

There are so many books which might usefully help you understand this nation's recent past. My wife and I both read Jon Swain's 'River of Time' whilst enjoying the utter luxury of the Raffle's Le Royal hotel in Phnom Penh. The chapters about the swimming pool mean so much more when you can see it ..
