Would like to know how safe it is for two solo girls to travel through Bolivia, mostly the altiplano region.

commented on Hi! This will be my first time travelling from Feb 2010. I am travelling through Thailand with a friend and then Australia and New Zealand alone (apart from a few stays with friends). I am excited but as a very sociable person am going to find it quite difficult I think. Most people Ive spoken too say it is very easy to meet people and join up for trips etc. Is this the case in your guys experience? in Going Solo
I'm from Oz, we're chock-ful of travellers so you'll find nice hostels and like-minded people very easily. it's simple getting around and flights between capital cities and major destinations are cheap and frequent. Sign up for travelzoo.com newsletters to find out about them. There are also some good train networks, interstate buses are pretty average though. My recommendations for you all would be Darwin, Alice Springs, Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney. Have fun!
