I am from the US ,we dont need a visa for mongolia. So i have no idea about the visa other then it costs around 400rmb. You can ride the BJ...

train from Beijing to Erlian costs 150rmb. You can buy a ticket all the way to UB from BJ for 500rmb...IT leaves BJ on weds.
