About me

I have been living in Amman, Jordan for the past six years after spending a good portion of my life living overseas. I consider myself an “American Bedouin”, considering home wherever I am in the world. Right now I’m working for an English-language newspaper and contribute with articles on marine ecosystem preservation and balancing the needs of the marine environment with ongoing developement, as well as local sustainable tourism. I learned to scuba dive over 28 years ago while living in Saudi Arabia, and have dived in locations all over the world.
Most recently, I completed a trip to southern Egypt to dive the Fury Shoals which offered some of the most spectacular diving I’ve encountered since Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, when you learn to scuba dive in Saudi Arabia, you compare every other dive site you visit and usually come up lacking. Not so with Fury Shoals… I was back in my element, and reminded of the awareness projects that need to be continued locally to educate people on the importance of marine ecosystem preservation.
