I have been to Costa Rica and I can recommend Puerto Jiminez on the South West coast. I heard they do not do direct flights to there anymore but you can travel by bus from San Jose. It is barely populated, besides a few expensive holiday homes along the coast line that were not occupied the 3 weeks I was there last May. Osa penisula is the place to go and stay in Encarta La Vida if you can. An amazing lodge with tree houses everywhere, right across from the beach. And go to Corcovado National Park Amazing!
