About me
I’m 85 years old, very fit, recently retired professor at Boston University, and I’ve traveled (often by trekking and hitchhiking) over 80 countries in over 58 years. When I look in the mirror I’m surprised at the old person’s face I see, because my heart is as young as many of the other TT posters, and I invariably have great adventures. In 1953-54 I walked (a thousand miles?) and hitchhiked 14 months in Africa; it cost me less than US$28. In 2002 I went on safari in northern Australia with seven others, the oldest of whom was 29, and I kept up with them. My interests begin with local culture, marketplaces, and architecture. I’ve always been treated well and helpfully by the locals where I traveled. I have a lot of experience and information and wish I had more time to reply to posts and make suggestions. Recent trips include Cuba, Slovenia, and Latvia. Excuse the odd connection between my real name and my e-mail address; I established the latter when abroad because my own name was blocked (probably because I used it earlier and forgot).
