About me
I hail from Poughkeepsie, NY. I went to college near Boston. I lived in Providence, Rhode Island, for one year, New York City for two, and now live in Chicago. I’ve been to the following states: New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana, California, Illinois, West Virginia, Nevada, and Iowa. I’ve been to Puerto Rico too. I want to go to more states. I’ve been to the following countries outside the United States: England, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Germany, and Canada. I want to go to more countries. I inherited the travel bug from my uncle. I enjoy road trips through and to the middle of nowhere, and I could drive aimlessly for hours. At the same time, I love cities and sightseeing, and a bit of nightlife. I enjoy talking to complete strangers in bars in random towns and cities across the globe. I believe you don’t know a person until you’ve gotten completely hammered with him. I like good beer. I wouldn’t say that I like a variety of music; rather, I like a variety of genres of rock music. My reading leans toward the highbrow, but I read a good bit of pulp too. My favorite travel writers are Theroux, Thubron, and Chatwin. Preferred mode of travel: Train or car. Flying is a necessary evil, and I’ve never grown comfortable with it. Last trip: Miami Beach/South Florida Up next: Guatemala in ’08, the gods willing.
