About me
Hobbies: Reading, writing, walking (city, parks, trails, anywhere!) Family: Married 32 years, kids, foster kids, adopted kids, transgendered kid, grandkids, as well as frequently seeing my siblings and their families. However, currently it is only my husband and me living here, with grandkids occassionally spending the night. Job: work in a group home with 13 – 18 year olds who have substance abuse and mental health issues (All my foster kids were teens too. I have a weak spot for teenagers, I guess, because soon as my last kid left home, I got paying jobs with them. Was a Job Corps dorm advisor for several years before my current job and I helped unwed teen moms before that. While I had my house full of kids, I worked alone in a basement office as a clerk!) College: 2 year degree in Human Services. Earned it shortly before turning 50, and had some of the professors my kids had had! Travel: Traveled to most of the 48 continental states, many several times. Love camping – with a tent, not RV. As a child, we camped often and for over 3 months, had no house, just our tent and we drove when we wanted and camped when we wanted. Now, we do weekend camping (still in a tent, but now with an air mattress too). We time share travel nowadys whe we go outside Maine (try to get 2 – 4 weeks in a year). A lot of beautiful places out there, but I love Maine best — moved here in 1968, lived in Florida for 1975, but moved back to Maine. This is the frist posting to others sort of thing I’ve done, except for 2 on line courses I took. I peeked at a few of the other profiles, then revised mine. I had no clue what to put in it.
