About me

Born & raised in North Queensland, Australia. Never been overseas but travelled extensively within Australia. Married two years now. Really hanging out to see Europe sometime in the next few years!

Am in the process of researching/dreaming for said Europe trip. I appreciate the recommendations to avoid the stereotypical tourist traps of your country (eg. Colosseum, Eiffel Tower, Venice, Basilica Sacre-Couer, Neuschwanstein Castle) but please realise that for a foreigner visiting these places, such sights are icons of those destinations and at least warrant a viewing and brief visit… it would be like me telling a Frenchman who has travelled half way round the world to Australia to not bother seeing the Sydney Harbour Bridge (an admittedly spectacular feat, considering the era it was built) because it’s just another bridge and won’t give you a good experience of Australian culture and history.

My understanding is that most first-time visitors want a balance of the famous icons and authentic experiences (unless they are on silly paris-in-2-days whirlwind trips).
