About me
Josephine first got her taste of not-so-serious travel when she slung a guitar on her back and travelled in Europe in the early 70s. She eventually reached Greece and caught a ferry to Israel where she embraced kibbutz life and the Mexican-American she was to subsequently wed.
In the mid 70s Josephine moved to the US and, a U. C. Berkeley (English) degree and two daughters later, launched her journalism degree as Assistant Editor for a wine and lifestyle glossy magazine in the Napa Valley. This was followed, ironically, with a move to ‘dry’ Kuwait where she worked as the Editor of the Kuwaiti Digest, the Kuwait Oil Company magazine for six years or until August 1st 1990, to be exact – the day Iraq invaded. After six weeks as a hostage and a hairy convoy escape route, (via Iraq!), to Turkey Josephine moved to the relaxed shores of Andalucia in southern Spain where she initially earned a crust as a ghostwriter, mainly on autobiographies for Marbella-based crooks and minor celebrities.
Throughout this time, Josephine wrote regularly for in-flight magazines. She was an editor for the, now defunct Go airlines inflight magazine and still writes two monthly destination columns (Malaga and Gibraltar) for Easyjet magazine as well as a bimonthly column on Seville for a Beligan airline. She also writes short stories and has had some minor publishing success.
Josephine primarily covers Spain and Italy for Lonely Planet. Other titles include Mexico City 2, Victoria (Australia 12), Portugal 5 & 6 and Cyprus (Mediterranean Europe 10).
