Getting there & away
You can rent bikes and motorbikes from Hébergement Fatehmamode (831 1551; mahmood@intnet.mu; Rue Max Lucchesi). Tour agent Rotourco (831 0747; www.rotourco.com; Rue François Leguat) also has a few motorbikes for rent, as does the nearby Patrico souvenir shop (831 2044; Rue François Leguat). Count on Rs 200 per day for a bike and at least Rs 650 for a 125cc motorbike.
Ask your hotel or guesthouse about car hire, or contact a local tour agent. Rates start at around Rs 1200 per day.
Port Mathurin’s well-organised bus station is across the river on the east side of town.
