The beach at Grand Baie is nothing special and the bay here is congested with boats. Instead, you're better off heading for La Cuvette public beach beside the Veranda Hotel on the bay's north side. It's not huge, but the sand is good and the water clean.

    Grand Baie- the best place in Mauriitus

    Hello everyone,
    I traveled to Mauritius a month ago and i stayed in a hotel in Grand Baie. It is a very hip place, the beaches were really nice and the people very friendly. A note about grand Baie - You should know Grand Baie is the place where most tourists go to, there are many pubs and restaurants in this area. We ordered a tour from the hotel operator but when we asked other people who came to the tour about the prices they paid, almost everyone paid less than us. After checking around we found that you can order almost all the excursions for much better prices through a local agency called Mauritius attractions center, they are located in Grand Bay. We ordered 3 excursions through them (catamaran cruise, diving trip and hiking tour) and I can highly recommend their service and prices. They recommend me that next time I should order these excursions in advance through their website because then I can be sure to have a reserved place for me to go on the activity (we could not go on the swimming with dolphins because it was full), and get an additional discount for ordering online. So this is my small tip for all the readers – best you will reserve you place for the attraction and order it online in advance and for cheaper prices. By the way, my favorite’s activities were the hiking tour and the catamaran cruise.
