I've just came back from a 10 day trip to Mauritius and I can highly recommend the Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. It's located in a non touristic area and offers all the luxury details you could ask for. A relaxing place to enjoy, explore and indulge. This is important to animal lovers. I have just returned from mauritius and am horrified to hear that the catch and kill has been re introduced after an international outcry last year.

They are taking dogs including pets and sterilised ones and keeping them in horrid conditions before killing them. There are humane ways of dealing with this and sterilisation and education has been proven to work. They are now blaming dogs for causing rtas. The driving in mauritius is terrible and well known…

Considering flying from KL to Mauritius in October.
I hear it may be only worth several days at most so I am looking to travel to other locales/countries.

What are the best transport options to visit nearby more interesting countries?
Are there ferries and boats going or are planes the only option?

Air Asia is opening up the KL to Mauritius route with starting fares fairly cheap.
It is a long way to go-about 8 hours from KL after I travel 8 hours from Australia.

I have done much of Asia and thought a new destination would be good.
However my neighbour who has been there many years ago says it is not as good as many Asian countries.

Does it have a distinctive culture, food, attractions, cheap accommodation, friendliness of locals etc????????

Another option is to use Mauritius as a…

We are travelling to see our family in Western Australia in October and planning a couple of weeks in Mauritios en route.

So many options! We are a fairly fit mid-late sixties couple looking for a quiet stay to enjoy relaxing beach life with some swimming and snorkelling - preferably snorkelling close to the shore for a nervous snorkeller - me!

We are hoping to book a small hotel or guest house rather than the huge 5* resort hotels if possible.

Any advice on location and accommodation…

Hello!
We are family of 3 (2 year old boy and his parents) who are going to visit Mauritius for 7 days in July/August. We have rented a car and are planning to drive around to see the Island. Should we stay in one hotel the whole week or is it better to move 1-2 times? The Island is not too big, but maybe it will be good to move anyway... Can't decide...

Hi everyone.

I am flying in to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport from Singapore in the evening and fly off again the following morning to Reunion.

Being a cheapskate, my question is "Can I stay on air side overnight?" If not, how about on land side?

I will have my onward boarding pass for the Mauritius-reunion leg when departing from Singapore.

Thanks in advance

Hi everybody,

I've booked a 10-days holiday for my family, for the end of March (Flic en Flac).
Now I'm somewhat worried because the weather forecasts are really appalling (rain + thunderstorms, no sun at all).
Ok ok, I know weather forecasts are not always reliable, but do you have any idea of what to expect?
Thanks a lot in advance.
