Hotel accommodation in Martinique isn’t, as a rule, particularly charming. That said, hotels here are generally small by Carribean standards and large resorts are rare. Most hotels are mid-sized and midrange, and prices are reasonable by the standards of the region. Many of Martinique’s most charming accommodations are private guesthouses (chambres d’hôte) or freestanding houses and cottages to rent (gîtes), but they generally require booking by the week. See www.gitesdefrance.fr for more details.
Room rates given here are for the high season (generally from December to April and July to August). Low season rates can be much cheaper than those quoted here. Generally, you can expect a reduction of between 20% and 40% between May and July and from September to November.
The following price cateogries are based on the cost of a double room.
| $ | budget | less than €50 |
| $$ | midrange | €50 to €150 |
| $$$ | top end | more than €150 |
