The IATA Timatic website now says that citizens of over 80 countries can get visa on arrival in Marshall Islands: https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_website_client.cgi?FullText=1&COUNTRY=MH&SECTION=VI&SUBSECTION=00&user=KLMB2C&subuser=KLMB2C
This is at odds with the information on the Marshall Islands Visitors Authority which has a much more limited list of countries: http://www.visitmarshallislands.com/travel-to-the-marshall-islands
I am from Singapore and Singapore is listed in the…
My second attempt to post this to the Marshall Islands forum and not the general one. Hope it works this time.
After checking out the the Reimers Hotel, the Uliga Inn and the Marshall Islands Resort (MIR) I went for the MIR. 80 US for a clean and spacious seafacing room with balcony. They have a saltwater pool. The other two places are fine too. If the garden bungalows at the Reimers Hotel fit in your budget it is a different story. The MIR has been renovated last year for some official…
Just by way of update, the museum is currently (December 2012) closed for an upgrade, and I was not able to get any sense of when it might re-open.
The canoe house (a short taxi-ride away from there) is worth a visit, though, if you are interested in the construction of traditional canoes. It operates as a training school for local youth interested in maintaining the traditional skills, and they may be willing to take you out on the lagoon for an hour, if they are not too busy, on payment of…
Is anyone planning to take a flight on Air Marshall Islands? If so, I have a favour to ask, and there might be a small amount of money in it ($10) for you. Please PM me.
My daughter is considering living and teaching in the Marshall Islands for a year. I've read that the islands are the most nuclearly contaminated islands in the world. How safe is it there? What provisions have been made to safeguard the population? Thanks you much for your input.
I have tried to find any information possible on blogs and traveler sites, then checked with Google Maps and Marshall Islands Visitor Authority, then exchanged couple of emails with hotel stuff but still have some unclear issues on our visit there. I get the notion that the Pacific Islands work on their own time and pace but some of the attitude is just plain unprofessional. So, couple of questions:
1) Accommodation. Wondering between Long Island/Hotel Remiers and the…
I just visited Majuro and stayed at Flame Tree. I had booked a private room for 30$ but Isac recommended the dorm for 20$ instead because it was more quiet. And it was. I was alone in the dorm so that was fine. The dorm is not a place for people wanting privacy as there are hardly any walls. The kitchen has no cooking facilities, just running water and a fridge. Flame Tree serves good food.
Majuro is great for walking around a few days. People are nice and the children will follow you around…
Flametree is still the place to stay.Isaac the Fijian receptionist/pastor will look after you.Fan room=$35,A/C room=$45 (should be able to get $10 off),dorm=$15.Food's fairly good & beer's cheap,355ml Bud=$2.50 ($2 from 5 - 8 PM).
NTA has the cheapest I-net,but even that is 8c per minute.
There are 4 mini-buses that run,Mon - Sat,from RRE,past the airport & on to Laura,90 minutes,$2 or 2.50.Laura's getting a bit rundown so it's free entry & not really worth the 3 hour round trip.
