I am travelling all thru West Africa - mid June for 3/4 weeks
Hoping that the tourist numbers will be down then - but rain & humidity not too high!

is there any logic in travelling from the North or South 1st etc - to avoid the on-coming (& worsening) rain & humidity?
ie which countries are likely to be getting worst 1st?
Any places to avoid?
Grey skies make for poor photos too!
cheers

I intend to drive from Nouakchott to Bamako next January. Previously the Mali visa could be obtained at the border, but that is no longer the case, so I am goint to have to get my visa in advance.

I believe that there is a Mali Embassy in Nouakchott. Has anybody got a visa from there? How long did it take and how much does it cost? (I have a UK passport)

I could get one in London before I leave, but at 195 pounds, I am sure it must be cheaper in Africa.

Another option would be to get one in…

In March of this year, I spent 9 incredible days travelling overland from Ouagadougou to Bamako and through Dogon Country. I hope that my review (skewed towards Mali) provides a recent update on some of the challenges and opportunities in travelling through Mali. I aim to provide more detailed comments on discrete topics (e.g. Dogon Country) in coming weeks.

Visas:

I applied for the Burkina visa in advance directly through the UK consulate (1 week turnaround). The situation regarding the…

Hello travelers,

I already had feedbacks from some of you, but I wanted to ask the opinion of the entire community: how is the situation in Bamako? I'll stay few days in the coming month, and I was quite anxious about the security issue. Some recente experiences? It is safe?

Hi guys, can anyone advise on obtaining Mali visa in ouaga?
Any chance it could be obtained in one day, with gentle request for express service.
Regards.
Steve.
