Lonely Planet review
The rooms at Cauris Lodge are simple but spacious and nicely kept. African art fills the lobby and elsewhere in the public areas. It has only seven rooms and a quiet location which helps to create a sense of quiet intimacy that could just be this place's best drawcard.
All the rooms have mosquito nets, while the sheltered garden area is delightful. It's a great place to kick back and rest. And right outside your door are quiet, tree-lined streets that have an almost other-worldly feel. There's a swimming pool that's rather on the small side, while the paillote (thatched sun shelter) is one of the most pleasant outdoor bar areas in Bamako, although it too is kept on a nicely small scale. The service is discreet and the staff are friendly in an understated way. The French owner ensures that nothing is allowed to decay in the manner of so many African hotels. A good choice.
