  1. Takana Juo (TJ’s) Restoran

A family-run Indonesian restaurant at the bungalows of the same name. TJ’s serves delicious, cheap food, though the staff certainly take their time serving it. It’s regularly full, so you’ll need to get here early.

  8. Jam Besar

Well…maybe not so much, but that’s what the locals would like you to think after seeing their pride and joy: the jam besar. Located near the bus station, the 25.5m-high tower was built in 1885 as a potable-water storage tank. A pesky underground river gives the tower a lean (although it’s not quite Pisa), and its designer, Mr Leong Choong Cheong, gave it its eight-storey, pagoda-esque appearance (there are actually only three floors).
