I have my heart set on visiting Malaysia's Borneo for the amazing rainforests, wildlife, and culture. I am worried, though, because I am a dual citizen of the United States and Israel, and my American passport states that I was born in Israel. It also has a stamp from Israel from when I visited Jordan. Does anyone here have experience with traveling in Borneo as a Jew (non-religious) and/or with Israel mentioned in a non-Israeli passport? I'm trying to figure out if it is safe and how I…
I've been searching for a good preparation guide online, but i have not been successful.
Most of the guide i found are not well organized. So you have a difficult time going back and forth between pages, and websites.
I've decided to compile and organized an 'A to Z' preparation guide for you, so that you can have peace of mind while preparing and arranging a climb on the mountain.
Mount kinabalu is *NOT the highest mountain in south east asia, but it is the highest (safest)…
I will be heading to Malaysia this wednesday to start a University Master's project (2 yr program) and I was definitely interested in knowing if anyone of you had advice on long-term stays in Malaysia and what might be important to know or have on hand. I have the prescriptions from the travel advisory (malaria pills/anti-diarrheal) and proper clothing and hats for field work, so I think I am covered on the basic things. Some things I don't have setup yet are banking and long-term…

Hi guys, just looking into some possible trips I could take on weekends from KL (as I will be working during the week). Public transport is fine, or if it's not too expensive I'm happy to rent a motorbike (I have quite a lot of riding experience). Any suggestions?
I will be in Malaysia next month and have a pretty set itinerary, however I have been having second thoughts about it. The way things stand now, I'll be spending 3 full days in Penang, 4 days in KL, and one day in Melaka. However, I'm beginning to think I'd rather spend an extra day in Penang, which would probably mean sacrificing the day in Melaka.
My main interest in going to Melaka was the Jonker Walk night market (I'd be there on a Friday night), and I know there is some beautiful…
Hello - we are taking our two sons, 8 and 13 to Malaysia in July. We have been before and loved staying at Pondok Lodge but read that it has closed down :´(
Any one got a recommendation for a nice place to stay in KL? We are not looking for 4-5 star hotels. A lodge, budget hotel or good hostel will be fine as long as it is clean and cosy :)
Kind regards, Mette and Arnar
I'm planning a 2 weeks trip to Malaysia at the beginning of May. We'll start at KL, then go by bus to Penang, and then we'd like to go to Jerantut (Taman Negara). My friends read about a bus: do you have any idea of the schedules, fares, where to take it?
Otherwise we'll go from Penang to Kota Bharu, visit for a few days, and then go to the national park, and back north to the Perenthian (we'd like to finish on that..)
Thanks to this great forum I've already made an itinerary for a 3-week holiday in August.
I was wondering, we would like to go to Royal Belum State Park and then to Perhentians, as I've read, there is barely any public transportation from Gerik/Banding. Does anybody have experience with how to travel outbound?
Furthermore, after the perhentians, we would like to go to KL.
Anybody has any specific travel advice?
Thanks in advance! :)
