Orangutans (Sabah)

Hi again,
I read some posts about watching orangutans, but most are over 3 years old. I heard some good but also mixed reports about Kina Batangan Wildlife Sanctuary, Danum Valley and Sepilok Rehabilitation Center. Unfortunately I don't have 3-4 weeks just to spot these wonderful animals, so would/could go to one of the above. Any recent views about them? I probably will be coming from Tawau and then going North.
Thanks a lot, Wim

Gunung Kinabalu: equipment for one-day hike

Hi there,

I am planning two weeks in Sabah, begin to mid November 2014. As I would like to travel light, I have soms questions concerning equipment. I am an experienced hiker (have done 4000m peaks in the Alps and vulcanoes in Indonesia, but all in July-August) and would like to do the one-day climb to the top of Gunung Kinabalu. I will bring some warm clothes but is the following essential: Hiking poles, via-ferrata set, waterproof overtrousers, leather gloves? I know all these items can be…

visa run from Vietnam

Hi, I'm in Vietnam and need to go on a visa run soon, does anyone know how much a 3 or 6 month Vietnam visa costs in Kuala Lumpur? Better still can you recommend a travel agent who can sort it out?

Thanks

Fake taxi driver in KL

Be careful whenever taking a taxi in KL and surroundings. There have been quite a few cases of taxi drivers robbing passengers, sometimes at knife point. This is news of the latest one, in The Star 19 Oct.

Strange and potentially serious problem.

I recently arrived in kl for the first time, and as per usual when I arrive in a new country, I made a b-line for the ATM. But unfortunately none of them work with my card! I must have tried a dozen or so different types but no luck. So naturally I call my bank, and they assure my that my card is active and finances are fine. They tell me the reason the ATMs I tried did not work was because the bank had no relations with the banks of the ATMs.

They told me to try HSBC bank ATMs, or just go…

Looking for cheap place to stay for several weeks or month

Selamat pagi! I'm looking for a cheap single room or bed to stay in on a weekly or monthly basis. Last time I stayed in a private single room in KL for RM 360/month. This time I would like to try a different city or town, somewhere else than KL, like Georgetown, Penang. Terima kasi.

Situation in Sabah

Hi everyone,

I have just booked my flight ticket to KL and I wish to go to Sipadan to dive. I heard that the situation in East Sabah isn't that good at the moment and some governments don't recommend to go there. How is it really? Is it safe?

Thanks for you answer, have a great day.

Buggy/stroller at Kuala Lumpur Int. Airport?

Hi - we will have a stop-over at KLIA next week with a small child, and chances are that our own stroller/buggy will stay in the hold until the final destination. Does anyone know if KLIA provides buggies in the terminal/transit area? We only have a few hours and will not leave the transit space, but it's quite a large airport with different terminals, hence having a buggy for a tired child will be very helpful. Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks.

Mabul Water Bunglow Resort

The place is really beautiful and the diving and snorkelling fantastic!! It is for sure one of the nicest place in the world, and the services to take us to Sipadan or to dive/snorkel were fine.

On the other hand I would like to point out some of the negative things that we met on our arrival and during our stay.

Arrival at Tawau airport: Somebody was waiting for us but we had to wait for around one hour for another couple to go together to the quay. The quay where we took the boat was really…
