Hello,

We will be in Penang, this winter, for a few weeks and are looking for an area where we can buy our own groceries, use the bus to get around and just relax, do some side trips but have a great home base.

These areas are on my radar on Penang,

Thanks for your feedback;

I've read that Malaysia is quite strict with the 6-month passport validity and I'm not sure whether it's from the date of entry or date of departure.

I'm planning a trip to Malaysia in early August, flying into Kuching from Hong Kong. I hold a Canadian passport but my passport is due in early February 2017. When I arrive, my passport will have about 6 months and 7 days left until expiry and I'm planning to stay for 8 days. Will they refuse my entry?

I have dual-citizenship so I thought about…

hi all -
my girlfriend and i will be in malaysia for about 11 days at the end of november/early december. we're starting in kuala lumpur for a couple days and ending in langkawi for 3 or 4 days. we're looking for advise on where to stop in between. so far we've narrowed it down to either georgetown or cameron highlands, but can't do both. georgetown seems easily accessible, whereas cameron highlands seems to require hiring a car to get the most of the area. for those of you who have…

Hello!

I am currently in Semenyih near Kuala Lumpur. I would like some advice on the best way to travel between cities.

Is it easier to do: KL -> Penang -> Perhentian -> Singapore or KL -> Perhentian -> Penang -> Singapore.

I can leave Semenyih around 4pm on the 26th July so could get a flight from around 8pm from the 26th or 27th of June any time. I could also get a train or coach. I would like to visit Penang and Perhentian but do not mind which order.

I am flying from Singapore at 1am on…

Hi there,

I'm going to be flying to Sabah for ten days next month. I've been there before (did the traditional tourist stuff before Danum Valley, Mantanini etc) so this time I am more concerned about just chilling out (r&r on a beach near KK) as well as finding interesting stuff to write about.

For example, last year in Bali I found an abandoned theme park:

And recently went to…

Hello,

We are a family, with 2 your children, 3yrs and 1 yr. I have decided on Penang for our winter getaway. Georgetown looks wonderful, the beaches, the amenities, the food, the beach...everything a young family could want.

The question is where to settle for 2-3 months. I read about a condo called Miami Green and I like the idea of a pool and park for the kids right at my doorstep. We need activities and to keep the kids busy but near our home to come back for naps. We want to cook for…

Can anyone help me with some up to date information on the best way to travel by rail from Butterworth Station Penang to Chumphon Thailand. Previous research led me to believe you could get the overnight train from Penang to Bangkok and get off at Chumphon but it seems this is no longer the case.
The ticket office in Penang is being very vague with their information so any help would be great.
Do you get a Malaysian train to the Thai border, then a shuttle bus across the border and finally a…
