Lonely Planet review for Jalan Petaling

The commercial heart of Chinatown is one of the most colourful and busiest shopping parades in KL, particularly at night when stalls cram the covered street. It offers everything from fresh fruit and cheap clothes and shoes to copies of brand-name watches and handbags, and pirated CDs and DVDs. Be prepared to bargain hard.

    Brand overdose

    markbroadhead recommends this,

Some people reckon you should halve any price that a stall owner offers for his items. In Petaling Street it is more like a third. If you are after something with a brand then this is the market for you. Virtually every consumable is here with any of the major brands added. Rolex watches are the most famous example, but you can also buy Starbucks t-shirts (why anyone would buy these I have no idea) and belt buckles with Michael Jackson's visage. In fact, I dare you to try to buy something (e.g t-shirt) without a brand insignia. It is harder than passing through the eye of the needle.
