Lonely Planet review for Kedai Kopi Lai Foong

Chinatown has a number of informal hawker-style restaurants, with various food stations serving classic Malay Chinese dishes. Almost all offer fried rice, fish curry, rice porridge, mee (thin noodles, fried or in soup) and tofu dishes - a meal should cost less than RM20. Kedai Kopi Lai Foong is recommended.

"lai" "lai" come to Lai Fong

    waggie recommends this,

With less than RM10 there is much ado in Lai Fong Coffee Shop situated in Jalan Cheng Lock near Petaling Street.
Don’t expect it to be a cozy nice place as it is not.
An old coffee shop with lots of individual stalls selling all sorts of food for one to choose.
Situated in one of the old shop lots, with tightly squeeze in table plus oily floor, accompanies by ceiling fans that age with the shop.
There is lots of “entertainments” you can get from this shop ~ from latest gossips of patrons from opposite table to the act of the stalls owner performing their food serving skills and not forgetting the flow of traffic outside the shop, whether it is the multi-cultural human traffic or transports that passed by, with background music from the “orchestra” of roaring engine and horns.
But all these are not the cause to deter you from visiting this shop!

For Breakfast ~ Do drop by for a cup of aromatic coffee and taste the famous Tong Kee Confectionary. Situated near the entrance greeting their guest. Egg tart is their specialties and one is never enough. Do try their Curry Puff, Siew Pau(roasted bun) or other varieties of pastries too!

Central Market, Petaling Street, Places of worship, Banks is around the corner. Do come back again when you’re hungry as there is much to be offers here.

For Lunch ~ from beef, chicken, pork to prawn! How much your stomach can take that how much you get!
A popular Beef Noodles Stall is there for 50 years to serve. With it soup cooked in low fire for overnight. Their beef noodles soup come will almost all part of the beef. From slices to fillets, stomach, tendons, tripe and balls.
Somewhere next to it is stall selling Pork Stomach Noodles and Soup. Yummy yummy yummy!
Not forgetting other stalls selling Wan Ton Noodle, Fried Kuey Teow and Prawn Noodles.

Nice food runs out fast. It open around 7am till while stock last. Come early to avoid disappointment!
