Lonely Planet review for Food Stalls at Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman

The best time to visit Little India is during the Saturday pasar malam on Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the alley between Jln TAR and Jln Masjid India. From mid-afternoon, this narrow lane becomes crammed with food stalls serving excellent Malaysian Indian food, as well as favourite dishes of the Chinese and Indian communities.

    spiciness and happiness

On our trip to Malaysia we had the chance to visit the market on Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman. On Saturday nights this usually busy road is transformed into a colourful open air market. By 5 p.m. about 500 stalls selling various items fill the road. The true show begins when lights go down: noises increase, every stall switches on its lights and the air loads with smells. We enjoyed them and couldn't resist picking up some local delicacies by choosing among grilled fish, noodles, nasi goreng, curries.
Nasi goreng (fried rice) and noodles set our mouth on fire but nonetheless they were delicious.
We went back to the hotel with an overall great feeling mostly due to the great food we had had.
So if you go to Kuala Lumpur try to have a stop at Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman: here food is excellent (for true !), super cheap and the service is always given with a smile.
