Hotel Ban Cheong
This old Chinese hotel in the town centre has basic singles with fan and shared bathrooms and air-con doubles with private facilities. It’s a reasonable budget option for an overnight stay.

This huge, blocky edifice around 1km east of the town centre is Kangar’s top hotel. Rooms are furnished to a high standard and have the usual mod-cons, and there’s an excellent restaurant and a gym.
Central, a bit rundown, but certainly clean enough. This ageing tower hotel has all the mod cons and amazing city and jungle views through smudged windows on the top floors. Plus, it’s right next to On’s restaurant.
A rather institutional-feeling place, but the rooms are clean, beds are springy and the non-English-speaking staff are friendly.
Clean and bright but uber-basic rooms with fan, hard beds, concrete floors and squat toilets are right near the river and market.
This place, about 10 minutes' walk from central Satun, was just opening its doors when we passed and hopes to become the first groovy backpackers pad in Satun.
