Getting there & away

All buses and minibuses go from the bus stand on the main road. Ordinary buses run to Mzuzu (US$1, two hours, two daily) and minibuses and matolas run to Nkhotakota (US$4, six hours), Chintheche (US$1, one hour) and Mzuzu (US$1.30, 1½ hours). To reach Lilongwe, go to Mzuzu and transfer. Many travellers also come or go on the Ilala ferry.
