Lonely Planet review for Taj Mahal

Authentic Indian restaurant in the train station quarter that looks like nothing but draws a full house. Subtle décor, a large section out the back (good for nonsmokers) and great-value vegetarian/nonvegetarian menus.

Not bad, but definitely not "great-value"

    bhimpel does not recommend this,

I was a little disappointed, that neither rice nor naan came with the vegetarian main dish. They cost 3 Euros each! The standard drink Mango Lassi was 4 Euros. The food was standard. The service and the atmosphere was okay, but I would have expected something better for the high price.

Two days before I was at the Indian Restaurant "Tibet", which is only a short walk away from there. I had ordered exactly the same things, it was cheaper, tasted better. They even asked, if I wanted more rice, which came with the dish. The service was better and more friendly. It looked much nicer, the furniture and the atmosphere was nicer. I received Papadam with a few wonderful sauces as a complimentary appetizer. Plus, there was free wireless internet access, which I appreciated.

I do not want to discourage anyone from going to Taj Mahal, but my guess is, that it is not any better than other Indian restaurants. "Tibet" is definitely highly recommended.
