National Museum of Lithuania

Lonely Planet review

Following the road that leads to the left from the cathedral entrance brings you to two museums: the National Museum of Lithuania and the Museum of Applied Arts. Identify the former by the proud statue of Mindaugas, the first and only king of Lithuania, standing out front. Inside are exhibits looking at everyday Lithuanian life from the 13th century until WWII. Of particular note are some of the country’s earliest coins, dating from the 14th century, which feature the bust of Jogaila.
