Four Points By Sheraton
Radisson Blu Al Mahary Hotel
Awal Hotel Tripoli
Bustan Hotel
Al Waddan Hotel Tripoli
Jw Marriott Hotel Tripoli
Rixos Al Nasr Tripoli
Buyut Ash Shabaab
This well-run hostel is off Sharia Gargaresh, 5km south of the town centre in the lively district of Gargaresh. It's marginally better than its more central counterpart, although it's a long way from Tripoli's sights.
Funduq Al Kebir
Once one of Tripoli's top hotels, Funduq al-Kebir is still probably the best value of the old government hotels. The rooms are very comfortable if unspectacular and the views from the top floors can be superb...
Funduq Al Asil
Sabratha's newest and best hotel is on the western side of town, around 400m south of the coastal highway to Zuara. The rooms are tidy and spacious and some at the back of the building have a distant view of the ancient theatre...
Winzrik Hotel
This comfortable place has 16 spotlessly clean rooms with bath and air-con. The splashes of traditional decoration in some rooms is a nice touch and the location, a short walk east from the entrance to the old city, is also better than most...
Funduq Dekna
Another new place that doesn't see as many tourists as it deserves, Funduq Dekna has large, bright rooms which are worth every dinar...
Camp
Inside Leptis itself, it's possible to Camp in car park No 1 under the pine and eucalyptus trees; it's a quiet spot at night and guarded by police from the station opposite. There's another small camping ground opposite car park No 2.
Funduq Tibesti
On the northern side of the harbour, this is another classy hotel with a luxurious ambience; look for the grass waterfalls adorning the façade. Facilities include a patisserie, health club, business centre, coffeehouses and restaurants.
Al Wahat Hotel
This outstanding new privately run hotel is hard to beat, with sparkling, spacious rooms...
Bab Al Fatah Hotel
At last a new hotel where you can see the old city from your room, at least if you have a north-facing room...
Funduq As Safwa
This suites-only hotel is in a quiet street away from the traffic noise of downtown Tripoli and its large, semiluxurious rooms are extremely comfortable. They don't get too many tourists here which may be reason enough to consider it...
Funduq Al Doha
One of the newest (and friendliest) kids on the block, Funduq al-Doha promises a warm welcome and the whole place sparkles, although you really want a room at the front as most of those at the back have no windows...
Funduq Bab Al Bahar
Seen in the light of the Corinthia's emergence, the Bab al-Bahar is anything but the five stars it claims to be. The rooms are fine if a little run-down and most afford good views over the town or Mediterranean...
Youth Hostel
Ghadames' youth hostel is basic, has small rooms and is plagued by problematic plumbing, but for this price you can hardly complain.
Funduq Al Kindi
This place just about merits its elevated prices - the quality of the rooms and service is much the same as the others around here, but its rooms are more stylish and there's a little more space to open your suitcase.
Hostel Souq Etturk
We mention this place for no reason other than that it's one of only two places to stay in the medina. Rooms are downright basic and you'll always feel that the staff wish they were sleeping or somewhere else...
Villa Tantawi
Friendly place with ornate, over-the-top rooms and a resident cat.
El Dogal Hotel
One of the newer hotels in Benghazi, El-Dogal has large rooms that won't win any style awards. However all except one per floor have views over the Mediterranean, while the corner single rooms here are better than solo travellers will find elsewhere...
Funduq Al Nouran
Due to open in early 2007, they were still applying the finishing touches to this new four-star hotel when we were there, but they're a friendly lot and gave us a sneak preview...
