Moving About

Getting from Zurich to Liechtenstein.
It is cheaper to buy combined train + bus ticket (train to Sargens, then Liechtenstein bus from there to Vaduz, at CHF15.40 return + Halb Tax, Aug 2004 prices), rather than buying seperate train ticket at Zurich HB and then seperate bus ticket at Sargans. Can buy these tickets at HB in Zurich. Ask at HB ticket desk - very friendly. Also, for using buses in Liechtenstein, the Halb Tax from Swiss Rail is valid. Also worth your while asking bus driver for route map, taking a bus some of the way up the mountains gives you extra time to tackle the higher slopes.

General comment regarding Swiss Rail.
If planning to take rail out of Switzerland, it is cheaper to book at least 3 days ahead - called "plan and save" again ask at HB ticket desks.
