Visas, Embassies & Border Crossings

Australian Consular operations have received telephone calls from members of the public requesting letters of introduction to obtain a visa while travelling in Africa. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and its overseas posts do not provide such a service. We suggest people approach DIMA and obtain a Declaratory Certificate of Australian Citizenship.

Travel Tips

When you rent a car that needs unleaded petrol, there are only very few petrol stations that supply it.

Moving About

Flights going out of Maseru (Moshoeshoe Airport) leave up to 20 minutes early and it is highly advisable to make sure to be there 1 hour early or risk missing the flight.
Steve Andersson (Apr 03)

Scams & Warnings

A warning about crime directed against foreigners in Maseru. Many members of the international community have recently been mugged and/or car-jacked in Maseru in the area between the OK Supermarket, the Maseru Sun and the US Embassy. Please be very careful in Maseru and quickly move on to the safer and more beautiful parts of Lesotho.
Siiri Morley, Lesotho (Oct 01)
