Hi, my friend and I are leaving to Beirut on Friday and are super excited :).
We would like to join a group on Sunday for a hike, and have two options: either Lamartine Falougha with Promax, or Deir Mimess, Al Janub with Hikingo (fundraiser event).
Which one would be most advised? Both regions seem beautiful..
For the last one we need a permit but the organisor will check if that's still possible. Just a bit worried about the area as it's in a no go zone if I follow my country's travel advice…

Hello Fellow Travellers.

Can anyone suggest a reasonable place to stay in Tyre/Sour for three nights in October. It's been quite hard to find a place on airbnb or other websites. We are two travel buddies; happy with 2-3 star accommodation or even living with a family.

Al Fnar does not seem to come too highly recommended.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Thanks...WD

Hello All,

Due to unforseen circumstances my 10 trip to sightsee, explore, and ideally hike and do as much as I can around Lebanon is becoming trickier than expected as my normal travel buddy cancelled last minute. Its my second time here, and I'm really keen on visiting beaches down south (Tyre, etc), hiking and climbing in the cedars, visiting the Hizbollah museum, and the old souks in Tripoli, as well as anything else that crosses my path. Also looking for a cheap place to rent paddleboards…

Hi, I know this has likely been asked a lot but I'd love some up to date info on basic prices.

I plan to be in Lebanon for 12-14 days in September - October, I'll be based in Beirut but also go on day trips to at least Jounieh, Tripoli, Byblos, Saida and Baalbek. I'll stay in Saifi Urban Gardens as well as couchsurf, but other than accommodation, how much money am I looking to spend per day if I don't indulge in fancy bars and restaurants, but chill at local places and eat mostly street food?

Has anyone recently flown from London to Beirut?
If you have I'd like some feedback on the most hassle-free flights and the (relative) comfort of the journey of the airline(s) you used.

I'm going back to Lebanon - for the first time since working there twice immediately after the Civil War in the early 1990s - to stay with a friend I made while there. My previous times I flew MEA because it was about the only airline serving Beirut.

MEA is still operating but I'm wondering whether it is still…

Hi all,
Planning a trip to Tripoli and Beddawi refugee camp to visit my husbands family. A couple of quirks here I'd like to get some feedback on:
1. Husband is a Palestinian carrying a Syrian passport (says Palestinian on it, but issued by Syria). He is a green card holder, but not yet an American citizen. Have been told by several family members to prepare for harassment in airport authorities, etc. I will be there also and am US citizen, which apparently should lessen things as long as we…

Hello! I'm headed to Beirut next week and would like to ask for some thoughts. I've read all the security advice (from many Western governments and from travelers) and largely made my decisions on that front, but a few issues remain a little unclear to me.

Baalbek: by virtue of its location in the Beqaa Valley, east of the Litani, it's on every Western government's no go list, but I can't imagine going to Lebanon and not visiting these ruins. My plan is to go with an organised tour from Beirut…

Hi all, I am visiting Beirut next week for a long weekend - would be great to visit one of the vineyards - can anyone recommend one of them? as well as if they are in areas safe to visit for western tourists?

Many Thanks!

VOA

Is a local address and phone number required to obtain a VOA at the Beirut airport? If so, would using the address and phone number of the hotel I am staying out suffice?

I ask because I am getting conflicting info about the requirement. The airline's TIMATIC page indicates an address and phone number are required but the US State Department's website doesn't list it as a requirement and the Lebanon's Embassy's website has a dead link to the requirements.
