New Years Eve!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas, though I don't think I even heard the word on the 25th!

I'm Australian currently teaching English in Lebanon, I've been here for four months. I'm planning on going up to Beirut for New Year's Eve.

I've heard from friends and family that Beirut has a fantastic night scene and I wanted to see it for myself since I haven't had the chance so far. I wanted to know if there were any particular events or venues that I could look into for the night. I speak Arabic…

I know this topic has been treaded over a bit but I am really in need of up-to-date info concerning what to do if you overstay your visa. I am a US citizen and received my visa in the airport when I arrived. It is a one month tourism visa. I have overstayed the visa by a couple weeks.

Two lebanese travel websites…

Baalbek/Byblos security concerns

Hi everyone,

I'll be traveling to Lebanon early next year (end of January-early February). I was hoping I could rent a car for a couple of days and visit Byblos and Baalbek as day trips while based in Beirut. I'm concerned about security issues in these two sites, especially Baalbek, and I can't find any updated information. I'm Mexican so as you can imagine I'm not overly worried and do understand that, while traveling, staying safe comes down to not overexposing yourself. Can anyone confirm…

Sidon and Tyre

Hi,
Travelling to Lebanon next month, and am sorting out a vague itinerary for the trip. I have been reading into the security situation in the country, and have concluded not to travel to Baalbek, Tripoli, the Syrian border regions or Southern Beirut. However, I am finding it really difficult to establish any form of consensus on security in Sidon and Tyre . From what I can see, there is a slightly different political problem in these cities to the rest of Lebanon, and, at least from initial…

Exit stamp from Eilat

Hi I have a USA passport with an entrance stamp from Jordan and....an exit stamp clearly marked from Eilat. I am now in Egypt but I was hoping to go up to Beirut for some sightseeing and some great food.
A friend who has been to Lebanon tells me it would be a waste of money (for the air ticket) to try and get into Lebanon.

Any advice? I do not (currently) carry another passport.

Thanks.
