Lonely Planet review for Al-Balad

This place offers the tastiest, best-value Lebanese mezze in Downtown, and is especially popular with lunching business people. The spicy red hummus, in particular, is well worth a dip.

    like a melting pod.

    maikusasi recommends this,

Al-balad takes you to a new world, Lebanese and Mediterranean food has been very popular recently and you can't skip a Lebanese restaurant in every ethnic venue in any capital of the world nowadays. but Beirut remains the home of original Lebanese cuisine and believe it or not Al-Balad takes over the restaurant list.

Offering it's delicious Hummus and Baba Ghanouj, dips that taste like if they were god's food. The Lahme baajine which is made of a layer of bread then adding meat and they top it with special mix of spices and grenadine syrup.

Well, it started by a lovely sitting environment listening to traditional Lebanese music mostly playing fairuz, a leading lebanese singer from all time.

The restaurant itself is well located, in downtown beirut next to the clock in a small venue, you seriously can't skip the crouds and the waiting list.

Don't forget to try the real experience of Lebanon by tasting the Arack, a national drink similar to Uzzo.

Sahtein (Bon appetit) and enjoy it! We loved the place.
