Lonely Planet review
This venerable hotel may have lost a little of its charm after a recent renovation, but it's still an excellent mid-range choice. Its comfortable rooms are well appointed and the hotel does a great breakfast.
While it's situated amid the traffic chaos of the Hamra area, excellent double-glazing at this well-run hotel keeps the perpetual honking horns at bay. The rooms are very large, immaculately presented, and very well maintained. All rooms have balconies and well-stocked mini-bars, satellite TV and wi-fi (making it a good business travel option). Although the hotel management is particularly proud of the flower-fresh non-smoking floor, the smoking rooms are also surprisingly fresh. The hotel staff are also rightly proud of their expansive buffet breakfast and fruit jams made on the premises (try the fig jam - it's fantastic!). The light-filled hotel restaurant attracts local office workers and a mix of European and Gulf Arab guests who come for the plat de jour.
