I am interested in taking a private tour of Rundale palace and environs from Riga in the next week or two. Does anyone know of something/someone reliable? Or will a decent hotel offer something?
It is cutting the most beautiful shots of my first flights on kvadrakoptere. Just became the proud owner of the Phantom 3 unit on arrival from vacation.
I regret that I did not have it before when we were on vacation. You could shoot at different frame types and to diversify the image. I hope it will be pleasant to look at Latvia, particularly Riga from a bird's flight.
Finally got to ride on a motorcycle. How long have I wanted to go again, for chase through the forest, on the sand, dirt and bumps.
Many here have nothing to tell only that I could not fall even once, but my friend had to go under the bike twice. Once he was not able to stop by the mountain and just fell over on his side, and the second time circling man ran off the road into a swamp with the nettle, and fell back on his side. In general it was quite fun! And I can say with confidence…
we will visit Latvia in late september and, apart from staying a couple of days in Riga and probably going to Gauja NP, I wonder if it´s worthed hiring a car and drive to Kuldiga and Ventspils or not.
Hello, any suggestion of multi-day hiking routes in Latvia? I understand Murjani - Valmiera in Gauja NP is one option, does anybody have experience with this route? Are there any other official, multi-day trails in Latvia? Thanks.
Gauja NP is only 1.25 hours on a train from Riga. It's covered with thick forest and dotted with ponds and marshes with the river Gauja running through it.
I went on a train from Riga to Sigulda, then by bus from Sigulda's bus stand to Turaida; I visited the Turaida Castle then back to Sigulda on foot (5km). My guide book said that Sigulda's bus station is 10mins walk SW from the train station, but I don't think this is the case any longer. The bus stand/station appears to be right next door to…
We are traveling from Riga to Talinn in early July by bus or train. we have two questions:
(a) do we need to buy tickets in advance or can we just go to the train or bus station that day?
(b) we were hoping to stop somewhere along the way to just get out and see one more town, maybe Parnu? does anyone know if we can do that, and if so, what is better, train or bus to do so? Or is there another stop that anyone would recommend?
thanks very much for any advice!
Can anybody tell me if it's possible to swim in the baltic sea in summer? I plan a trip through all 3 countries but I'd like to have a few beach days. Or is the water too cold?
Any "must do's?" Thanks!
Just wanted to share a bit our experience with latviatravelandtours.com. My husband and I went to Riga for the weekend and were looking online for something special to do in Riga when we stumbled up this website. After a few back and forward e-mails with them, we decided to take the soviet and KGB tour. We met our guide Andrejs at the Central Market where we had a very interesting tour. Andrejs was very knowledgeable about the history of the buildings and also made us taste some…
