Beautiful mesh closet doors, fluffy white bathrobes, cute kitchens, and DVD players are just a few of the many, many treats that greet visitors at this highly effective fusion of 19th-century brick building and modern, concrete edifice. The minimalist interior design and artwork are utterly faithful to the stunning old-meets-new architecture, but the design is just the beginning.
Its restaurant is among the top three in Rīga. The king-sized beds are as ludicrously comfortable as they look. And the service is impeccable. Heaven found. Like peanut butter and chocolate or Felix and Oscar, the Bergs is a highly effective fusion of two seemingly disparate elements - in this case a 19th-century brick building and a more modern, concrete edifice. The chasm between the two buildings is spanned by interior bridges that link each floor and topped by a glass dome which allows the sun to illuminate the lobby. The interior design and the artwork - a mix of contemporary Latvian and tribal African styles - are utterly faithful to the old-meets-new architectural design. But wait - there's more! Its restaurant is among Rīga's top three. The king-sized beds, which understandably feature prominently in its promotional material, look ludicrously inviting and are every bit as comfortable as they look. And the service is impeccable. If it weren't for the lack of free parking, we might say it's perfect.
