My boyfriend and I will be in Riga for 3 days and after that we are planning to visit some nearby villages. We would like to spend one full day visiting the villages and stay the night somewhere in one of the villages and next day take a bus to Tartu. We are looking for nice places to see and we welcome any recommendations.
We don't want to spend time on the beach, or in the museums but we would like to do some shorts hikes(up to 90 min), see interesting architecture and visit local…
I am going 5 days to Riga by the end of the month I wanted to know if you could give some tips on:
Where to park close to the city center and good price
I want to visit Helsinki and I was planning to go to Tallinn and from there take a ferry. I was investigating and it looks the best option in terms of pricing. Do you have another tip? Maybe instead of going to Helsinki is good to stay in the continent the whole 5 days? But I think Riga is small to spend 5 days there.
Since food is…
I have a bit of a problem. In Riga there is a great beer bar/shop called AleHouseBrewery, but I have problems in the smaller towns.
In the bars its normally just a few main stream beers.
The problem might be solved in the super markets, where I found lots of beers. The problem is that the text is only in Latvian, so I have no idea what type of beer it is.
What is "Ale" called in Latvian?
IPA is it called IPA?
Anyone that have some idea what I would be looking for, if I like
I want to share with the community information and my experience of my trip to Latvia
I visited: Riga
Latvia's capital is truly a beautiful city. You can visit the small Old Town by walk in only 1 day and is full of beautiful buildings in style Art Nouveau . I suggest however to spend much more time in the city ( at least 3 days ) to visit some Museums and other districts outside Vecriga ( Old Town ) because there are interesting places to see. It is not economical if you choose tourist…
As I left Riga by a Ryanair flight, I had to pay a 7 EUR "security tax" at the airport. This fee is only charged to Ryanair passengers.
Problem: I found no mention of that tax on the Ryanair site as I reserved the flight; no information in confirmation e-mails, etc.
What happens if you don't have 7 EUR? You miss you flight if you aren't able to beg?
I have decided last minute to go on a little trip from estonia to hungary, but im having a hard time figuring out buses/trains from latvia or lithuania to czech republic(flying is out because its too last minute expensive)
is lithuania a must see country(bare in mind it would only be 1 day or 2 days max.) is it better to bus or train to czech, or is it absolutely not worth the hassle and I should just stop being a cheap ass and fly? any information would be greatly appreciated. also, general…
I'll be going to going to Gulbene to ride the narrow gauge railway to Aluksne. I can't find much info about Aluksne but I want to go from there to Estonia. Any idea if there are buses from Aluksne to Parnu (preferably) or Tartu? I don't want to go all the way back to Riga.
