My girlfriend & I will be in Laos in a couple of months, and are considering doing the 3-day 'Gibbon Experience'...a few questions for anyone that may have taken part in it recently:
I've read a couple of posts on safety issues...they were somewhat worrisome, but also both a few years old. Does anyone have a more current experience about them? Have they 'upgraded' to using safety helmets? Are the harnesses better maintained and checked for/with each person? Was a first aid…
I will be in Luang Prabang and will be headed vang vieng and Vientiane. I will be in vang vieng for a couple of nights. MY questions are
-- how frequent are the buses?
-- are they comfortable? Also how are the roads?
-- where is the bus stop in LP?
-- any other tips?
Hi- My wife and I (over 50 and active) have 15-17 days that we wanted to experience Laos and Vietnam. Obviously we have to focus and limit, we will be in October which also has weather considerations- we love the outdoors and hiking, authentic tribal hikes sounds good. Luang Prabang looks good but if we were to add a leg of some part of Vietnam and do it all in the 15-17 days we have- is it possible?
Recommended? Perhaps we need a thin slice of North Vietnam and combine it to Luang Prabang-…
Just went to the Vientiane Indian Embassy today. There were several things that you will need for your visa not mentioned on their website. Here is an update for those who are about to apply . Just a note E-visa is the easiest, and fasted option but is not accepted at land borders. Enjoy India!!
1. Visa process takes 5 working days for all foreigners.
2. You MUST fill out the application online (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html), and upload your passport photo. A printed copy of the…
My trip around SE Asia is about to finish, so I am selling my beloved bike. Curently in Pakse, Laos, soon in Vientiane.
It's from 2015,13000 km drove (i drove myslelf 10000).

Hi folks ,
I live in Thailand and soon I will be going to Savvanakhet to get my visa for Thailand, once there I thought I would take advantage and go onto Vietnam for a week or so seeing that I am a UK national I can make use of the visa free entry for 15 days into Vietnam. My question is can I pass thru Laos onto Vietnam and back into Laos on the same visa or do I need to purchase a visa on each entry ? Anyone know Thanks?
In the fall I'm going to Laos and am looking in to Tree Top Explorer from green discovery in Pakse. Does anyone have experiences with this organization and expedition? Is it a thrust wordy organization? Is it well organized and worth the money? For me it is a bit expensive but if its worth it I would love to!
What do you guys think? Or do you have other recommendations?
Love to here from you! So excited :)
There are a few "tour" companies running Mekong Cruises from Luang Prabang to Huay Xai........
Any experience with any of these: Cruisesmekongriver.net, Mekongsmilecruise.com (seems to be a "central" booking tour company), Mekong-cruises.com, Vietprestigetravel.com Thanks
2 years ago I travelled through Cambodia & was surprised to find that they deal mostly in US$. Is this the case in Laos? Should I take some US dollars with me? I have already planned to take the $35 required to obtain a visa at the border. Thanks in advance for advice.
