I am going to bike from Vietnam into Laos at the Lao Bao border crossing. From there to Savannahket is about 250km.I would like to break my trip somewhere halfway between these two points. Are there any towns with hotels on the way?
We are In LP with a week here, and the 30 day visa so have plenty of time, and we would like to focus on the north. So my thoughts are bus to Nong Khiaw spend Some time then bus to Muang Ngoi spend some time, then up to Phongsali, then down to Muang sing andLuang Namtha, then maybe down to Pak Beng and would like to experience boat back to LP. Sooooo, does this route seem doable without too much bus time on any given day? It seems like the route from Luang Namtha to Pak Beng may be a…
Thai Air Asia will to fly to Vientiane from Bangkok from 1 July 2016 There will be an initial Promo Fare of THB 990.
Thai Air Asia already has flights from Bangkok to Luang Prabang.
We are going to Vientiane from Bangkok and plan on being there for a little while before heading to the next place. What should we not miss while exploring Laos?
Hello! I'm currently in Oudomsai and thinking of going up to Phongsali. It's very hot and hazy down here, and I was wondering if anyone knows typical weather up in Phongsali at this time of year? Also, does anyone know if the Hat Sa - Muang Khua boats are likely to be running at the moment?
I finish a Bangkok to Vientiane tour in mid May. My ultimate destination is Central Vietnam to meet up with friends. I am considering travelling by bus to Vietnam staying in Savanakhet for one or two nights to break the bus journey. However, I am flexible time wise. Is it worth an extra few days to travel down to the Four Thousand Islands area then into Vietnam.
I will be a volunteer teaching English for 6 weeks in Nanhang Village (Ban Nanhang) in the Naxaythong district of Northern Laos, about an hour NW of Vientiane. I have never been to Laos and am wondering if anyone has any information about the village/district itself (if anyone has been to this area) and if a weekend trip to any major areas (such as Vang Vieng) would be feasible, given that I can only be away from my village Friday afternoon-Sunday night. I will be allowed to travel…
Good evening to everybody.
Would you give me please an opinion on these two itineraries?
We are very undecided whether to visit or less Muang Khua and accordingly to extend a few days to the 4000 islands or to Pakse and outskirts.
Better abandoning the south and to make only north?
What do you recommend me?
Would we care besides that you make us know if the days 7, are 8 and 10 feasible in day with the half places or no?
6 Roma - BKK
7 Arrivo BKK ore 8:30 - Volo Chiang Rai - bus per Chiang Khong
I'm trying to figure out when to fit Northern Laos into an upcoming 7 month trip.
My pet hate is peak tourist season (I can cope with the hot and rainy seasons). I want to be free to wander as I wish without pre-booking. I made the mistake of being in Luang Prabang many years ago in peak season and it was as though The place only existed for tourists, and we were stuck with the one hotel because all others were full.
So just how busy in Northern Laos in March or April?
