Crossing into Cambodia from Don Det

Hello,

I am looking for any info on crossing into Cambodia from Don Det. Ideally I would like to go to Kratie once on Cambodia. Is this possible to arrange or do I need to stop off somewhere first.

Many thanks

Vang Vieng, besides tubing.

Hey all!

I made a short trip to Vang Vieng with some friends a few weeks ago. Of course we also tried tubing but the more interesting experiences were gained by exploring the surroundings with scooters. I wrote about it in my own travelling/living in Bangkok blog. I hope this article gives some ideas and inspiration for planning your trip to Vang Vieng!

accomodations highway 3

I'll be bicycling from the China/Laos border to Huay Xai, and not bringing camping gear. I once read that there are simple guesthouses in most towns in Laos, specifically that there are guesthouses every 30km from each other on the main roads. Can anyone confirm this?

What is difficulty of via ferrata at Tree Tops near Pakse?

I am planning to go on the Tree Tops adventure in Paksong, southern Laos. Can anyone tell me :

-what is the height of the climb?
-is there a walking way up? I have seen reports on TA that there is but the company say not.
-would it be too difficult for someone with a moderate knee injury (torn ACL)?

thanks

Boat ride in North question

I loved the boat ride from Nong Khiaw to LP last time I was in Laos but that seems to be less enjoyable now with the dam.
If I wanted to approach Nong Khiaw from the North by boat (assuming that's a scenic trip) where would I p/up the boat and how would I get to that place from Luang Namtha?

Don't miss the Butterfly Park near Kuang Si Waterfalls!

If you visit Kuang Si Waterfalls, near Luang Prabang, be sure to see the new Butterfly Park just 300 metres from the entrance. Its centrepiece is a large net-enclosed garden, the air full of butterflies of many colours. Leaves studded with butterfly eggs or crawling with caterpillars and you watch butterflies busy laying eggs. Outside there's a pretty garden with orchids, waterfalls and a pond with a cafe run by a Dutch couple. Perfect for a rest after Kuang Si Waterfalls!

Short time trip from Bangkok to Vang Vieng / travel advise

Hi,

in a couple of months I'll be going to Thailand with three friends and we want to include a trip to Vang Vieng to do tubing. Two of my friends are not very fond to do the trip but we finally agreed to do it :)

We'll land Saturday 13:00 in BKK and want to spend the day + night in Bangkok. The trip to Laos can start on Sunday early in the morning.

We plan maximum of one night in Laos what makes the timing very tight (that was the compromise we had to make)

From what I read there are three…

12 February 2015 - Share boat from Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw / Muang Ngoi?

Hi!
I would like to travel from Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw / Muang Ngoi Neua by boat on the 12 Feb 2015.
It should be boat to the dam, minivan around the dam, boat to Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi.
I think the price should be about 1.9 million KIP.
I still have to organise the trip: I will be il Luang Prabang on the from the 10 Feb and start looking around for tour companies. I think that maybe Green Discovery can organise it.
Is anyone interested in sharing?
