That night in the most amazing Luang Prabang we were hungry.. very hungry to be precise. But we had to shop - who would have skipped the richness of the night market and omit the silk scarves at a price of a London daily bus ticket? not a single woman i know... There was no time left for searching for a fancy restaurant..so we stopped by the food stalls.. right in the middle of the market.. A vegetarian buffet? hm? excuse me? in Laos? how come? "well, it makes you fat less, when eat no meat" explained the smiling owner. His wife heated up my spring rolls and I happily filled up my plate with 4 types of salad, my most favourite bamboo sticks!, and lots of noodles... all for 5000 Kip (= 0.50 $). Yes, correct, we were also shocked! Even in Laos, this was a take-without-thinking price for anything resembling food. We topped the deal up with a bottle of beer Lao (standard 10000 kip per big bottle) and sat down among a jolly group of fellow backpackers. My god! what a feast it was! fresh, tasty!, yummy, delish, divine!, flavorful, heavenly! scrumptious -  i am lost for words! The best best salad I have ever! eaten in my 28 year olfd life! (and i dined in many 5 star hotels, and traveled a bit, so i guess i am fairly objective). Together with great company of fellow travellers from around the world, it was a feast to remember for long! Highly recommended!
