Hi there, I am a solo female traveler, 31, American working for the US Embassy.

I am going to be in Bishkek for a short trip starting on September 13th. My itinerary between the 13th - 16th looks like this. I am using Indy Guides but the trip would be much more interesting with a travel companion or two!! Moving onto Kazakhstan after that from 16th evening - 20th morning.

Krygyzstan
Sept 13: free time/ City Tour

Sept 14: Bishkek to Karakol (visiting Burana Tower on the way, eagle hunter on the…

I'm in Bishkek right now and wondering which road to take to China (Kashkar and on to the Karakoram). The Torugart pass, Irekshtam pass or even via Kazakhstan?
- The Irekshtam pass is very far from here,
- Kazakhstan is way around and landscape- wise probably more boring,
- The Torugart sounds complicated: with organized transport (possibly paying 150 euro on the Kygyzstan side and 310 euro on the Chinese side?).
Do you arrange the organized transport in Naryn?
Do you normally find other people so…

Hi all. I have two broken Nikon lenses (just my luck) and I would like to try and get them repaired in Bishkek while I wait for all of my visas. I can't find any official Nikon repair center online, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any reputable camera repair shops in town?

I did see this older post, but I was hoping for something a bit more recent.

Cheers!

HELP, any Brits out there in Bishkek?

I've just had my card lost/stolen and have only a couple of quid left, and have no way of getting money out. Was wondering whether I could do a bank transfer to someone's account GBP (still have internet banking) and then get some money out on my behalf? Cheers! I know it's a tall order but worth a shot. I'm desperate! Thanks

Hello!

I am heading to Kyrgyzstan and possibly Tajikistan in the next few weeks, and plan to do some trekking/camping. I am fairly self reliant and plan to do most of these things independently, but I am curious as to stoves and fuel. What kind of fuel is available in this part of the world. Is it crazy to think that the propane canisters are available over there, even if trekking hub towns? If not, is it easy to find a stove over there to buy (might be cheaper than the $120 set ups in…

Did soneone recently take a public transport from Osh to Batken and what about the Uzbek enclave without a Uzbek visa? Infos in this forum are about 2 years old. What happens when being on a bus and drive through the enclave... or how to avoid it?
