I'm planning to walk around villages in Issyk Kul region and Kochkor region, and get food from the local supermarkets.
What kind of food could be found in the supermarkets?
Could I find a good variety of vegetables as in western shops? how about meat, cheese?
We are planning a travel between Bishkek and Osh from the 9th of July to the 12th(We'll start on the Pamir the following day). We wish to maybe do a detour visit to Arslanbob(one night overstay maybe) along the way.
Does anyone think this is possible with the time available, and is it possible to rent a car in Bishkek and then deliver it in Osh? Any other sights or attractions you would recommend along the way?
Can anyone explain the overnight options for travel from Bishkek to Karakol? We will be going in a week and heard there were overnight buses with sleeping berths--is that just a myth? Are there overnight marshrutkas, and how terribly uncomfortable are they?
hi we will be in kyrgyzstan on August with 3 children. we can reach the festival but it dose need adjustment our planned schedule. I am trying to piece together some type of itinerary the problem is I only have 2 weeks and everything seems to appeal to me. I'm travelling solo on a budget hoping to arrive early July.
I love the outdoors and would love to see some great scenery and do some trekking (Although I'm inexperienced).I would love to experience staying in a yurt and seeing some of the culture. From what I have looked at everything seems to be pointing me in the direction of Karakol as a first stop after…
I am arriving Karakol the 9th July 2017 at nigth.
The next day I will visit the city and rent a tent and an sleeping bag, and I will buy some food (10th).
The days 11, 12 and 13th I will do the Ala Kul trekking alone.
I would like to know which is the temperature at night in that area and what kind of tend and sleeping bag I need there.
And is it easy to get some wáter there? I think I must buy wáter purification tablets in Karakol
Is there an off-road path that connect the villages along the south shore of the Issyk Kul lake?
I was thinking of walking from Karakol to the other side of the lake, in May.
Will I be able to get supply from supermarkets every day?
How about water, are there natural springs along the way to filter water from?
Thank you very much for your help

My May-Day plans look like they'll have to change so I'm looking at the possibility of flying Air Astana from Beijing tn Bishkek for the short holiday. Given that there will be the best part of a full day stop-over in Almaty, I'll only get about 2 full day in Kyrgyzstan so, obviously, won't be looking at going anywhere outside of the city. Does Bishkek have enough to maintain interest for 2 days and NOT regret the outlay? What sort of things would people recommend? I really like Almaty so I'm…
