Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi
Step into the hectic capital of Kenya, Nairobi. Arriving early? Perhaps visit a museum to learn more about Kenya's history or relax in one of the many restaurants, bars and cafes that are dotted throughout this city.
Day 2 Aberdare National Park
Enjoy a Kenyan country-style lunch before journeying into the heart of Aberdare National Park. Take in panoramic views of the forest and waterholes below and try to spot buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, giant forest hogs, pythons and antelope.
Day 3 Lake Nakuru
Head west to visit the vast Lake Nakuru National Park in the heart of the Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru is justly famous for its visiting flocks of flamingos, pelicans, terns and cormorants but there are plenty of land-dwelling animals as well. Rare Rothschild's giraffes and both black and white rhinos can be spotted within the park's boundaries.
Days 4-5 Lake Naivasha
Admire the expert craft work of villagers before heading to Lake Naivasha - home to an immense variety of birds. Enjoy a walk in the Crater Lake Game Sanctuary and a boat ride to the Elsamere Conservation Centre - former home of naturalist Joy Adamson.
Days 6-7 Masai Mara National Reserve
One of Africa's most famous reserves, the iconic Masai Mara is a landscape of sweeping plains and host to buffaloes, gazelles and other herbivores. In turn, these well-fed creatures are prey for lions, leopards, cheetahs and other stealthy predators. Drive out at dusk or dawn to try and spot these great cats and other wildlife in action.
Day 8 Nairobi
Hit the road and return to multicultural Nairobi for a final taste of Kenyan culture.
