We are Carmen Böhler (Switzerland) and Jaime Moreno (Spain), we are planning a self-drive safari to Masai Mara and Amboseli starting 30th or 31st of July from Nairobi. The planning would be:
- Sleep first night outside the mara, near to Talek Gate.
- Mara: 1 Day around Talek Gate and 2 days in Mara Triangle
- Drive to Amboseli, sleeping one day in the middle close to Nairobi
- 2 nights in Amboseli (1 day of game drives)
- Back to Nairobi on the 6th of August.
We have booked now a Rav 4, but…
Hello, in few days I'll be in Shimoni and around there. I'd like to get a budget accommodation where there are NOT so many tourists, simple with local atmosphere. Any tips?
After that, what kind of activities are there? Snorkeling diving?
I'll be in lamu soon and I am wondering how I can get around with matatu. Are there any direct matatu?
My road trip would be:
Watamu-forest (is it worth a visit or shall I head directly to kilifi? Can I just walk in by myself or do I need a guide, hoe mio is the fee entrance?)
Forest/watamu - tiwi (or Diani beach?)
Tiwi - shimoni (and the to the marine national park)
Shimoni to tanga
So after turning down the hep a vaccine I just arrived in Nairobi and I'm having second thoughts. I will be here for 4 weeks travelling around Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania. Where can i get the vaccine here in Nairobi that is safe clean and won't put me at risk for second hand needles etc.
We are planning a trip to Kenya in Oct, and trying to find the best place for safari.
We have already done a little research and decided to spend 3 nights in Masai Mara, 2 nights in Samburu and 1 night in Naivasa/Nakuru/Bogeria(each) . But someone just told me that Samburu is not worth going and a bit dangerous.
So, has anyone just been to Samburu recently? How's it for a first time visitor?
If we need to remove Samburu, how about Amboseli/Ol pejeta/Aberdare?
I'll arrive at Nairobi airport at 00.30 in the night on Sunday morning. Is the office for the VISA open at that time, and where can I change the money from USD to Kenyan currency during the night?
Are there any free areas where to stay till the fist bus starts to run (at 6am)?
I will be traveling to Nairobi this weekend and staying for a week July 16-23 2016. I want to climb Mt Kenya or spend a few days in Maasi Mara. Is it better to find something online before I arrive or is it possible to find local guides (possibly cheaper) when I arrive? Do you think it would be possible to see both places in that short of a time? thanks.
We are a Belgian-Spanish couple, 28 and 30y old, heading to Masai Mara and then to Victoria Lake, leaving Nairobi on the 26th. We are planning on renting a 4x4 and would like to share cost. We would also camp in the park (public spots) for 2 night. So 3 full days in the park, we would sleep outside the park the first night.
Have a great day, where ever you are!
