Lonely Planet review for Nairobi National Park
A visit to Nairobi National Park, a few kilometres from the city centre, is a great way to fill in a few hours before you catch a plane. There's plentiful wildlife, including most of the plains animals (except elephants), against the bizarre backdrop of Nairobi skyscrapers. The headquarters of the KWS are at the main gate. The 'Park Shuttle' is a KWS bus that leaves the main gate at 15:00 Sunday for a 2½-hour tour of the park.

The Widest City Park Anywhere...........
kaputiei recommends this,
NNP is unique: a huge area of uninhabited virtual wilderness (the home of 40 lions & 4000 plains zebra) adjacent to the city of Nairobi, with it's 5 million human inhabitants. For those who want to escape the traffic & intense bustle of the city & to see what things were like before the city was there 100 years ago or so, the Park is the place to go......a classic savannah landscape full of all the large mammals one would expect to see. Stately giraffe stride across the plains & large herds of buffalo graze beneath the jet airliners on their final approach to Nairobi Airport.
It is all an extraordinary 21st Century African juxtaposition.....Good for: lions, browse rhinos, giraffe, zebra, african buffalo, safari
