Lonely Planet review for Carnivore
Vegetarians, please look away now. This is hands down the most famous nyama choma restaurant in Kenya. At the entrance is a huge barbecue pit laden with real swords of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, camel, ostrich and crocodile. As long as the paper flag on your table is flying, waiters will keep bringing the meat, which is carved right at the table.

not a right place if you looking for fresh meat
dany_peter does not recommend this,
the meat is not fresh and the quality of service is also not all that great for the price one pays in Carnivore... i would recommend "Pampa Churrascaria" for those who are looking for good meat; the concept in Pampa Churrascaria is similar to that of carnivore but the meat is fresh and the service is also good and you also pay less in Pampa Churrascaria..
Not good for: tasty food, fresh meat

Canivore
chilipepa recommends this,
The atmosphere in Canivore is quite intoxicating. The energy hits you as you come in, and the reason is not far -fetched. Several men (I saw no woman, actually) dressed in Ghanaian wax print shirts and black trousers- the uniform of Canivore- walk bristly to and from the spit and the kitchen, ensuring there's no room for you to get bored.
If you go with a group of people it is always better to book in advance as you might not find room in the fully-packed restaurant. Luckily I was alone, and it is a testimony to the excellent service of the staff that they tried - and succeeded- in finding me a table. You are given a wooden 'tree' containing spices, vegetables and rice, which serve as accompaniments to the main course: meat, meat and more meat. On the top of this tree is a tiny red flag, which indicates that you want to be served.
The waiters come round, one at at a time , with a wide variety of meat stuck on swords. They are very willing to take pictures and explain to you what they are serving and the best spice to eat it with.
If you are lucky to celebrate your birthday at Canivore - and I witnessed a birthday celebration - the crew gather round with a unique birthday 'cake' (no need to spoil the surprise) to sing a Swahilian happy birthday.
Regardless of how many times the meat comes round to your table, there is a fixed price for the meal, 2150 kshs, when I went there. Drinks are extra.

Carnivore's Delight!
tonybowyer recommends this,
This barbecue specialist was great - set price 2150 KSH last month - food comes to your table on swords - don't overeat on the usual beef and chicken - save yourself for the more exotic crocodile [tastes fishy!] and ostrich - very good. You need to take a taxi as It's down a side road. I am told that the locals go to something similar in Westlands that costs only 500 KSH.
Good for: atmosphere, Groups, Families
